Weymouth land project to become first privately funded solar project in the United States

The first privately financed solar project on the East Coast will be completed next week at the Weymosey Landing development near Weymouse Beach in Weymount.

The project, which is a collaboration between EMC Corp. and solar developer Eddy Land, will be the first solar farm on a land in the U.S. to be financed through private investment.

The site will be used to install the 1,000-megawatt (MW) solar farm.

The project was completed on a $1.4 million budget and includes an environmental permit.

Eddy Land plans to use the site to install a total of 1,500 MW of solar energy by the end of the decade.

The first site was completed in 2013 and is now a solar farm in operation.
