The story of a solar farm that is being built at the edge of a massive salt mine and has been dubbed the “Solar Power Mountain”.
This year’s “Mountain of Dreams” solar farm was built with the help of the Utah Department of Agriculture, which has awarded a $2.5 million grant for the project to use as part of its National Agricultural Solar Project.
“This project has been in the works for several years, and I think it has the potential to become a national asset, a real model for the future of agriculture,” Utah Agriculture Commissioner Bob Stewart said in a statement.
“We are thrilled to be able to support the development of this project and are looking forward to its completion.”
In a news release, the Utah State Department of Energy said the project will help the state to “increase renewable energy capacity and provide energy to the state and the public for more than 30 years.”
The project is scheduled to be completed by 2022.
